Algorithmic trading systems and trading bot development

Fincode turns trading strategies with client-defined rules into software designed to run around the clock, with risk limits, order management, logging and monitoring. Every system is tested on historical data and in a paper trading account before it goes live.

Components

What makes up a trading bot

A reliable algorithmic trading system is more than strategy code. The systems Fincode develops consist of the following layers.

  • Strategy engine

Entry and exit rules, time frames and indicators are translated into code. Rule-based approaches such as moving average crossovers, mean reversion, grid trading and dollar-cost averaging (DCA) can be implemented.

  • Risk management

Controls such as risk per trade, a daily loss limit, maximum position size and an emergency stop (kill switch) run as a layer independent of the strategy.

  • Order management

Orders are sent to the exchange and their execution is tracked, taking slippage and fees into account.

  • Logging and reporting

Every decision, order and fill is logged with a timestamp, and performance reports are generated regularly.

  • Monitoring and notifications

System status, open positions and unusual events are reported in real time via Telegram or mobile notifications.

  • Infrastructure

The system is set up to run continuously on a cloud server or on the client's own server, with automatic restart mechanisms for failures. Outages caused by the exchange, the server or the connection cannot be ruled out entirely, which is why monitoring and emergency stop mechanisms are also put in place.

Testing

Backtesting and paper trading

A backtest shows how a strategy would have performed in the past: the strategy is run on historical price data while following its trading rules exactly.

Backtests that ignore fees, slippage and execution conditions can be misleading. Simulations are therefore set up under conditions that are as realistic as possible, and the results are shared in a detailed report.

After the backtest, the strategy runs in a paper trading account with real market data but without real money. Going live is done in a controlled way with a limited position size.

Past performance is not indicative of future results.

FAQ

Questions about algorithmic trading

Am I buying an off-the-shelf bot?

No. Fincode does not sell ready-made bots; it develops custom software for the strategy defined by the client.

I don't have a clear strategy yet. Can Fincode help?

Fincode does not recommend investment strategies; the strategy rules are defined by the client. Fincode helps make those rules technically feasible and testable.

Does the bot guarantee profits?

No. Fincode turns the client's strategy into software that is tested before it goes live. Strategy and investment decisions remain with the client; no software can guarantee profits, and trading can result in losses.

Which markets can it trade?

It can be developed to run on crypto exchanges and brokers that offer API access, in both spot and derivatives markets.
